SKYPLAY TOURS
Skyplay participates in the largest tournament in the world, Eltham Classic Tournament held at the Dandenong Stadium in Melbourne. Over 1700 teams Australian and international teams compete.
Since 2011, Skyplay has won seven championships which is the most by any private basketball academy in tournament history. Skyplay academy players have first preference to participate in the tournament.

Wednesday 22 January to Monday 27 January 2020.
The tournament coincides with Australia Day weekend.
All teams will fly from Perth to Melbourne on Wednesday 23 January and return back to Perth on Monday 28 January.
All teams will stay at the beautiful Quest Moorrabin located at 3 Kingston Road, Heatherton.
The 2 and 3 serviced bedroom apartments are close to the tournament playing venues, major shopping centres and restaurants.
The room assignments are organized by both the Quest staff and tournament Director and Coach, CJ Jackson.
Breakfast and dinner will be provided. Due to game times, these meals are generally consumed at the Quest.
All rooms are stocked with continental breakfast items including fruit, cereal, bread, juice, milk and sandwich meats. The evening meals include pasta meals.
The players will need to either organise sandwiches/rolls for lunch at the stadium during competition times or purchase lunch at the stadium kiosk. There are times that the coach will be able to take the team for a lunchtime meal at Subway or other lunchtime restaurants when available in which the players are responsible for the cost of their lunchtime meal.

Players are expected to follow the Skyplay Basketball Tour code of conduct of behaviour both on & off the court at all times for the duration of the tour. There is an expectation that players representing Skyplay will play in the spirit of fair play and show excellent sportsmanship with respect for the referees, coaches, team manager, competition organisers and Quest Hotel premises as well as staff. Skyplay views the tournament as a chance to play against talent from other states, a playing holiday and most importantly a life skills tour.
- Respect: for authority, property, be courteous towards others and appropriate language.
- Punctuality: on time for games, travelling, training sessions and other events.
- Alcohol & drugs: zero tolerance. Any violators will be excluded from participating in the games and all future tours.
- Quest Hotel: any damage to the rooms and/or property and the players will be responsible for damages and expenses.
The tournament organisers are responsible for the grading of the teams based on the players' background.
If a number of players playing on the same team play in State Teams, WABL, D-League or SBL the team will generally be placed in a higher division.
If the players' background includes domestic comp then the team is placed in a lower division nevertheless the competition is of high quality.
Coaches for each team will initially be sourced from our Skyplay Basketball Academy and previous tour coaches. We will be seeking support from any interested parents/guardians travelling over for the tour with score bench and/or any other vacancies that we might need help with. The volunteer coaches will be provided with their flights, accommodation, game/practice gear and meals for their services which includes the following:
- Team training sessions,
- Pre-tournament games,
- Duty of care for the players & transportation of the players along with the team managers during the tour
Team Managers will be by appointment only. All interested parents/ team managers must complete an expression of interest form. The team manager will be responsible for their flights. Skyplay will provide the team managers with the touring team polo, accommodation and meals at the Quest where the teams are staying. The team manager duties include:
- Duty of care of the players during the tour including flights to and from Melbourne.
- Duty of care at the Quest Hotel with the players.
- Supporting the coach with transportation.
- Distribution of merchandise and uniforms to the players and coaches.
- Communication of training and all events to the parents and players.
- Support with meals at the Quest Hotel to players and coaches.
- Attending to any player injuries.
All coaches and team managers must possess a current Working With Children Check (WWC) as well as a current drivers license.
As we have experienced a few minor injuries in our past tours, this year we will include a First Aid Manager to handle/treat all injuries while on tour.
There will be a training regime prior to departure. Training sessions and pre-tour games will be scheduled for the following venues:
- Bendat Centre
- Scotch College
- Aranmore College

Skyplay takes pride in player presentation:
- All players will be provided and required to wear a new custom-designed uniform, t-shirt, water bottle, and sports bag for the tour.
- There are washing machines available at the Quest in the players' rooms for up-keeping of their gear.
- Players and team managers will be responsible for the upkeep of their gear. Spare uniforms will be available in case of a blood rule.

PLEASE NOTE:
- Initial deposit of $250 with registration is a non-refundable unless of the circumstance where the player is unavailable for the tour.
- Players/parents may elect to pay the balance in full or pay in instalments.
- Any changes to flights in GOLD or SILVER Package will be at the expense of the player and/or parents.
